Design & build

WordPress development for features a plugin cannot do

Booking flows, calculators, multilingual sites, learning platforms, integrations: the features a plugin does badly or not at all. We write them as clean code on your own site, so they keep working after every update.

What it covers

What you receive

Compare options

How long it takes

Custom features

Booking flows, quote calculators, listings, dashboards and reporting written for your business rather than bolted on. We scope each one in writing with a fixed price and a date before any code is written.

Plugins and integrations

A small, audited plugin set on every site, and a custom plugin where the off-the-shelf one is slow, unsafe or almost right. Fewer plugins means fewer updates that break things.

Multisite and multilingual

One WordPress installation running several brands, branches or regions, with shared logins and separate content. English plus Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo or French where your customers need it, with a translation workflow the team can run.

Learning platforms

Courses, lessons, quizzes, certificates and paid enrolment on your own domain, with Paystack for fees and a student dashboard that works on a phone.

Plugin or custom code?

	Plugin	Custom code
When	A proven plugin does exactly the job	The plugin is slow, unsafe or almost right
Cost	Licence fee, often yearly	One build, no licence
Speed	Loads its own CSS and JS everywhere	Loads only where used
Updates	Depends on the plugin author	We maintain it on the care plan

01 Day 1

Call: tell us what the site must do

Thirty minutes on the phone, or a short form. We agree the plan, the pages and the launch date before you pay anything.

02 Days 2 to 8, or 2 to 4 on Sapphire

Approve: the design, on your phone

The homepage first, usually within three business days, then the rest. Changes are included, and nothing goes live until you say so.

03 Launch day onward

Launch: live on the date in your quote

Then send changes on WhatsApp whenever you like. They are done within two business days, usually the same day.

How we do it

Scope first, in writing

Custom work goes wrong when the two sides picture different things. Before we quote, we write a one-page scope: what the feature does, what it does not do, the screens involved, what happens when something fails, and the date. You sign that, not a vague proposal, and when you ask for something outside it we say so and quote it separately rather than absorbing it into a late launch.

Standard WordPress, clean code

Everything we write follows WordPress coding standards and lives in a theme or plugin that another developer can read. No page-builder widgets, no code pasted into a settings box, no dependency on a developer who has left. The Solevant directory and the Propsult platform were both built this way, and both take core updates without a fuss.

Staging, tests, then live

Every feature is built on a staging copy of your site and tested with real data: real listings, real orders, real users on real phones. Nothing goes live until you have used it yourself. After launch, updates are tested on staging first, so a WordPress release never surprises you on a Monday morning.

You need this when

What it costs

Small features (a calculator, a booking form with rules, a custom form that writes to a spreadsheet) start at ₦60,000 and ship in about a week. A membership area, a directory or a learning platform is a custom build from ₦450,000, scoped in stages with a date on each. Clients on Emerald get small custom features included; Diamond covers store features and integrations. All custom code is yours, in a repository in your name.

Built for these industries

The same service, shaped for the business. Each page shows what matters in that industry and the plan that usually fits.

Questions about this service

Do you take over sites built by someone else?

Yes, after a short audit of the theme and plugins. Most takeovers start with removing what is not needed.

Will custom code break on WordPress updates?

Updates are tested on staging first. Custom code follows WordPress standards so core updates do not break it.

Who owns the code?

You do. It lives in a repository in your name, and the export includes it.

How do you price custom work?

A fixed price for a written scope, split into stages for anything over two weeks. You pay a stage when it is delivered and working. There are no hourly surprises.

Can you build a mobile app?

We build web apps that install on a phone from the browser and work offline where needed, which covers most business cases at a fraction of the cost. For a native app store app we recommend a partner and build the website and API side.

What happens if you are not available later?

The code is documented, in your repository, written to WordPress standards. Any competent WordPress developer can pick it up, and we have handed projects over before without drama.

What to have ready before the call

Rough notes and phone photos are enough to start. The launch date in your quote counts from the day we have them.

A description of the feature in your own words, and what it replaces.
Examples from other sites that do something similar, even badly.
Who will use it (staff, customers, partners) and on what devices.
Any system it has to talk to, with the name of whoever manages it.

“Our old site took six seconds to open. Spinah rebuilt it and moved the hosting, and now it opens in under two. Enquiries doubled in the first month, and every one tells us which property it is about.”
